What is a Teamcenter Upgrade ?

process of moving from an older version of the Teamcenter software to a newer version (Major Version Change)

Example : TC12 to TC14 ,TC2306,TC2412 etc.

What Changes are made from Siemens's Side that we should make to upgrade the Teamcenter Environment?

1. Siemens stopped Support to the Lower Version of Teamcenter: we cannot take any help if something fails in the older version as support stops from Siemens. if something fails we have to continue our work in the same condition without any help

2. Software Version changes in TC Architecture Stack causing software need to upgrade: Teamcenter upgrades ensure compatibility with the latest operating systems, browsers, databases, and third-party tools like NX, Solid Edge, and CAD systems Database. Oracle or MSSQL upgraded their Software with new Features and Stopped support to older versions. Web Tier Oracle WebLogic, Tomcat, and JBOSS  upgraded their version with new features. Upgrade in JAVA Version with new Support and features which Caused new Java need to be used.

3. Performance Improvements: In every upgrade, Siemens development and the Performance Team continuously work on Performance improvement by adding and removing many features (codes /SOA) that are necessary and not necessary, respectively. This includes not only Code changes but also adding many technology Stacks.

4. Security: In Every TC version there can be the possibility of many bugs or system Vulnerabilities that can harm Our TC environment or cause security and Concerns. Siemens PD and Testing Team Continuously working on Finding and Removing bugs with their Different method of Testing and Development. Ex. Log4j (everyone knows).

5. Cloud Support: as everywhere everything is on the cloud hence now Teamcenter is also on the cloud with its different Functions (All Supported Features of the Cloud) and is easy to handle and manage. Examples are TCX, TC on Cloud

6. Scalability: As Cloud is growing with  AI and Auto Scalable Features are Evolving (need of future). Containerization comes to help at this Point. Example: TC Microservices Deployed on Linux with the help of Docker swarm

7. Competitive market: Teamcenter supports or Integrates all possible applications that any industry can use with Teamcenter and no need to go for any other application for its support (Strong Portfolio Creation and all under one roof).

There are many reasons to upgrade The TC which are not mentioned above but the motto is the same Evolution and improvement.
